Embarking on the journey to your dream kitchen is an exciting process. For all the details, please visit our process page, where we've outlined the steps to make your dream a reality.
We're as eager as you are to get the ball rolling! Our goal is to have a concept design and quote in your hands within 5-7 business days. Your dream kitchen is closer than you think!
The timeline for installation can vary depending on the materials you choose, typically falling between 8 to 12 weeks after sign-off, provided we have everything we need to process your job.
For private clients, we require a deposit of 50% of your total quotation, which is due 8 weeks before the installation date. We'll send you an invoice for that. The final payment is due upon completion of joinery and benchtops, and, of course, we'll send you an invoice for that too.
HK has you covered for all your kitchen design, cabinetry delivery, and installation needs. If you're looking for assistance with the entire project (plumbing, electrical, flooring and the like), we can provide you with a list of contacts to consider in case you don't have your own team in mind.
In general, no, refacing isn't our forte. But we do have excellent partners who specialise in it, and they come highly recommended. Interestingly, when we've priced such jobs, opting for a new kitchen hasn't proven to be significantly more costly.
We don't supply appliances directly, but we can point you in the right direction. We have a list of trusted suppliers who offer special deals for HK clients.
We don't supply taps, so you'll need to pick one up at your local plumbing merchant. They'll have the perfect fit for your kitchen. Just a quick note: when you're selecting tapware, consider both the tap's height and the space required for the rotation of the on/off and hot/cold lever.
To keep your stunning benchtop in top shape, it's best not to put hot pots directly on it. We recommend using a trivet or heatproof barrier to avoid any heat-related stress or discoloration. Let's keep it looking beautiful!
Keeping your new kitchen in tip-top shape is a breeze! For cleaning tips and maintenance guidelines, simply refer to our care and maintenance page.
Absolutely! Your designer is here to assist and can provide guidance on the process. They'll also ensure you have all the necessary details to make your selections smoothly.
Absolutely! When you choose HK for your kitchen, you're not just getting a beautiful kitchen; you're gaining access to our expertise in crafting a wide range of joinery items, including vanities. Just let us know your needs, and we'll make it happen with a smile.
Let's dive into our drawer and runner options. We offer two fantastic choices: Atira and Avantech. Atira can handle up to 30kg, while Avantech Actro YOU provides options in 10kg, 40kg, and 70kg. Our usual selection is 40kg, but if you need something specific or larger, we can go up to 70kg. We also offer Avantech - Quadro YOU, with choices in 10kg and 30kg, and our standard preference is 30kg. Your satisfaction is our priority, so simply inform us of your requirements, and we'll tailor it to your preferences!
Let's explore the scullery dilemma! In large kitchens, they work wonders. However, sacrificing small living spaces or other rooms for a walk-in pantry might not always be the best choice. A spacious pantry right in your kitchen could be just what you need. Let's create a kitchen that's perfect for you!
A thoughtful approach is key. It's typically a good idea to allow a minimum of 2 full days between the removal of your old kitchen and the installation date. Your builder or project manager will be your guide in determining the precise timeframe for your unique renovation. This timeline may depend on factors such as alterations to walls, windows, plumbing, electrical adjustments, gib repairs, painting, and more.
If HK is handling the removal of your kitchen, please keep your designer in the loop regarding the timeframes you and your builder have worked out. We'll synchronise the dates accordingly.
You've got it! You or your builder/project manager will play a key role in coordinating with your electrician and plumber. Feel free to share your confirmed HK plans with these professionals, so they have all the information they need to perform their pre-work at your site. Please note that these plans might undergo minor adjustments after the site measurement.
For an additional fee, HK can take care of the removal and disposal of old cabinetry. Please note that it's crucial to have the plumbing and electrical disconnected before the scheduled removal date.
The removal of tiles or flooring is outside the scope of HK's services.
Painting and plastering, as well as any needed repairs, are outside the scope of HK's services.
We recommend painting the walls before installation. This not only facilitates the sealing of benchtops to the walls, ensuring the integrity of your joinery warranties, but also prevents plaster dust from finding its way into the sealant. Please be aware that some minor touch-ups may be needed after the installation.
HK can provide a temporary melamine surface if you're awaiting the installation of a templated stone benchtop. However, it's important to note that we do not supply a sink or tap, nor do we arrange any plumbing, whether temporary or otherwise. If you decide to have a temporary sink installed, there will be an additional cost associated with its disconnection before the stone benchtop installation. It's crucial that this disconnection is completed before the benchtop company arrives to ensure a smooth process.
We recommend installing your wardrobe units before the carpet is laid. This not only ensures a seamless process but also helps you avoid additional costs associated with a second site visit by HK. Additionally, it's ideal to have the walls painted before installation to make your painter's job easier.
The timing depends on your flooring type, so it's a great idea to discuss this with your designer during your consultation. It's important to note that floating floors can only be installed after the joinery is in place, without exceptions.
HK's standard LED extrusion lighting includes the aluminium housing and the plastic lighting diffuser. To create a beautifully recessed look, we'll router the groove in the cabinetry. However, it's your electrician's responsibility to provide and install the LED lighting ribbon and transformer. If you're interested in having LED lighting under your benchtop, feel free to discuss this with your designer during your consultation.
It's highly recommended that any new walls or alterations to windows as part of your renovation be completed before the final site measurement. This crucial measurement sets the production timeframe in motion, and any delays may affect your scheduled installation date. If you have any concerns about timeframes, please don't hesitate to discuss them with your designer during your consultation.
Yes, it's crucial to select your appliances as part of the kitchen design process. The variations between appliances directly impact cabinet sizing and the overall layout and functionality of your kitchen. HK will need this information confirmed before moving forward with the production of your kitchen.
In general, HK does not install appliances, including rangehoods and power packs. However, if you have integrated appliances like a dishwasher or fridge, we can provide a quote to attach the integrated panels and install the appliance as part of the kitchen. Discussion about integrated appliances and trim kits should take place at the beginning of the quoting and design process. Please note that all integrated appliances need to be at the HK factory at least 4 weeks before installation.
HK supplies a removable sink base to assist your plumber in accessing the pipework below for sink plumbing. We also provide a sink shelf for every sink unit, and it is the plumber's responsibility to shape the shelf around your plumbing and install the sink shelf once their plumbing fit-off is complete.
Your stone benchtop's installation depends on its type. If you have an ordered stone benchtop and it only touches one wall, it's typically installed the day after your cabinetry is in place. For templated benchtops that touch two or more walls, templating occurs the day after cabinetry installation. The benchtop itself is set to be installed between 10-12 working days from the template date unless you're advised otherwise.
HK doesn't handle the installation of rangehoods or power packs, nor do we manage ducting. However, we have trusted partners we collaborate with and can recommend.
Warranties for HK and our trusted suppliers can be found on our Warranties page.
We don't supply flat pack kitchens to non-joiners. However, we do have strong partnerships with companies who specialise in this area and can make recommendations.
A week before delivery and installation, one of our scheduling team members will reach out to you to discuss the details.
For an average-sized kitchen, you can expect 1-2 full days for installation, unless specific circumstances dictate otherwise. Any stone benchtops will be installed by our trusted supplier either the following day or, in the case of templated tops, between 10-12 working days after the template has been completed.
A bulkhead is typically constructed by your builder, gibbed, stopped, and painted in tandem with your walls. HK then steps in to install a 30mm negative detail/panel between the cabinetry and the bulkhead. This panel sits back approximately 18mm behind the front of doors and panels, creating a stylish negative space or shadow line. It's a finishing touch that bridges the gap between the bulkhead and your kitchen cabinetry and is scribed to match your bulkhead.
A fascia is a panel, usually 100-150mm, that's installed above your cabinetry to give your kitchen a polished finish and fill the gap between the ceiling and the kitchen cabinetry. It aligns flush with the cabinetry fronts and is scribed to match your ceiling. If you have gib coving, you can choose to finish it on the fascia or run the coving along the face of the fascia.
At HK, we believe in getting things just right from the start. That's why an HK designer and one of our Site Reps will visit your home for an onsite consultation. This allows us to take precise measurements and consider factors like beams, existing plumbing, other structures, window heights, and more. It's all about ensuring that your kitchen design is spot-on and tailored to your unique space. We're here to make it perfect from the get-go!
